Requisition ID:  13324

Your New Role

Help keep Scotland moving.

Are you looking for a role where you can make a real difference every day while building a long-term career in highways, infrastructure or asset management?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Highways Inspector to join our NMC South West team based in Polmadie, Glasgow. Working in partnership with Transport Scotland, you'll play a key role in helping to maintain a safe and reliable trunk road network that supports communities, businesses and road users across the region.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a mix of site-based and office-based work, has a keen eye for detail and wants to develop their career within the highways industry. Whether you're already working in a similar role or looking to build your experience, we'll provide the training and support you need to succeed.

As part of our team, you'll help monitor the condition of the network, identify issues before they

become bigger problems and ensure highway asset information is accurate and up to date.

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

What you'll be doing (Key Responsibilities)

  • Carrying out highway safety and comprehensive inspections in line with industry standards and codes of practice.
  • Identifying, recording and reporting defects to help keep road users and pedestrians safe.
  • Collecting and maintaining highway asset data using GIS and other digital systems.
  • Producing accurate inspection records, reports and supporting documentation.
  • Assisting with surveys, investigations and asset management activities.
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of inspection programmes.
  • Working in accordance with health, safety and environmental requirements at all times.

Why this role stands out

This is more than an inspection role. It's an opportunity to gain hands-on experience across highways operations, asset management and digital surveying while working on one of Scotland's most important transport networks.

You'll work alongside experienced professionals, build strong relationships with clients and colleagues, and develop specialist skills that can open doors to future opportunities in engineering, asset management, project delivery and leadership.

At Amey, we'll support your development through structured training, mentoring and clear career pathways, helping you shape a career that's right for you.
